Transparency, Reliability, Accessibility, Applicability, and Completeness framework

Updated 2026-03-25
The TRAAC framework is designed to quantify the readiness of different tools and methods towards or their compatibility with regulatory frameworks and their usefulness for end-users through a calculated TRAAC score. It diagnoses barriers that hinder regulatory acceptance and usability based on five pillars: Transparency, Reliability, Accessibility, Applicability, and Completeness.

Project
The development of TRAAC was supported by the EU NMBP-13 H2020 Gov4Nano project (grant number 814401). Online tool implementation was realised within Harmless (EU-funded H2020 Research & Innovation Action addressing Safe-by-Design of multicomponent nanomaterials).
Remarks
The framework could be, in principle, adapted and extended to the evaluation of other type of tools & methods, even beyond the case of nanomaterials.
